Lance Corporal Duane Groom killed in Afghanistan

It is with great sadness that the Ministry of Defence must confirm that Lance Corporal Duane Groom, The Queen’s Company, 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards was killed in Afghanistan on Friday 14 September 2012.

Lance Corporal Groom was killed in action when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device in the Nahr-e Saraj District of Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

    OUR LOSS – HEAVENS GAIN. OUR THOUGHTS OF COURSE ARE WITH HIS FAMILY, SO DEVASTATED BY THIS LOSS – WE THINK ALSO OF HIS COLLEAGUES AND IN THIS INSTANCE THE MEDICAL TEAM WHO TEND TO OUR YOUNG MEN. PRAYERS AND THANKS ARE SAID FOR ALL OF OUR TROOPS, WHO ARE JUST COMING HOME FROM THIS TOUR, AND ALSO OUR THOUGHTS ARE WITH ALL OF THE BOYS AND GIRLS WHO ARE GOING OUT ON HERRICK 17.     Rest in Peace. my sympathies are with your family and friends during this difficult times. My son is also in Afganistan. It terrifies me every time I see these messages
    “When you pray you rise to meet in the air those who are praying at that very hour, and whom save in prayer you may not meet.
    Therefore let your visit to that temple invisible be for naught but ecstasy and sweet communion.!

    My condolences to you, budies, Ministry of Defence and family of Lance Corporal Duane Groom, victim of IED. He is on the reign of the Father, as others fallen, and this done us serenity. He will live for ever on our hearts. claudio alpaca

    My deepest sympathies go out the family and friends of Lance Corporal Duane Groom. His name on the roll of honour is little recompense for a young man’s sacrifice. To those who serve along side please take every care. Good speed until you all return. RIP
