March 28, 2012

The two men were serving as part of Task Force Helmand when they were shot and killed at the main entrance to Lashkar Gah Main Operating Base in Helmand province.

Secretary of State for Defence, Philip Hammond MP, said:

“I was very saddened to learn of the deaths of Sergeant Luke Taylor and Lance Corporal Michael Foley, brave and committed British servicemen who died in the most tragic of circumstances whilst on operations. They died in the service of their country; they were in Afghanistan to protect Britain’s national security.

“Both men were known to their colleagues for their professionalism and military qualities, but outside of their careers, it is clear that both were also true and devoted family men. My thoughts and deepest sympathies are with all those left behind.”

I condolence to Ministry of Defence, all you buddies, and loved ones of Sergeant Luke Taylor, Royal Marines, and Lance Corporal Michael Foley. They are on the Reign of The Father, where they are living for eternity and from whom they say us not be sad, but have serenity, as they are not died but live on the other phase of life.
Yes, we have serenity, also if a little sad for not see them. We have a home for them on our heart and, grace to our faith, we know they are surrising us. Claudio Alpaca

This has been a sad litany of late, Sergeant Luke Taylor and Lance Corporal Foley joining the honourable role of our best who have given their all in the service of the nation. As with those who have passed before trying to offer condolence to devastated loved ones is next to impossible. I only wish it were not so. RIP.

To be murdered by someone they knew is diabolical.
They were there to train the New Afgan forces and this is the response they were given by one of their trainees.
May they now Rest In Peace.

Sad loss for the families, friends and our nation. Wouldn’t it be far better to train them basic over here, then ship them back, we’d only need a scaled down advisory force over there then.
