British Forces News: The changing face of Afghan security

November 4, 2011

Reports this week suggested Afghan president Hamid Karzai could announce the hand over of the Nad ‘Ali area of Helmand province to the Afghan Security Forces. But it is not the area to have seen great improvements in security. Nahr-e Saraj (South) district is also a story of success. 1st Battalion The Rifles (1 RIFLES) Battlegroup Headquarters along with its C-Company has been in the area for the past six months and witnessed new facilities open as a result of the improved security provided by the local Afghan Army and Police.

The result of training, that has enabled, on terms of experience and organization, the Afghan Security forces to patrol and govern Nad’ Ali area. A step toward the complete control of Afghanistan land by its forces.
A success of our actions, a satisfaction.
A thank to our warrior, fallen comprised, for their sacrifices.
