Royal Engineers build Afghan police station

An engineer assigned to 59 Commando Squadron, Royal Engineers, secures concertina wire for a security barrier in Lashkar Gah district, Helmand province [Picture: Petty Officer 2nd Class Jonathan Chandler, US Marine Corps/ISAF 2011] Royal Engineers from 59 Commando Squadron have completed construction of an Afghan Local Police (ALP) station in the Lashkar Gah district of Helmand province.

The station, built in Bolan-T, took three days to complete. It will house fifteen Afghan local police officers, part of the ALP initiative; a form of community based policing led by the Afghan Ministry of the Interior to provide local security against the insurgency.
