“We don’t want to live like slaves, we are out of the darkness”

June 11, 2011

“They were not allowing teaching, they do not want my country to be developed, they want the people of Afghanistan to live like slaves; we don’t want to live like slaves, we are out of the darkness.”

In the southern district of Gizab, local people decided they’d had enough of the Taliban terrorising their neighbourhood so they joined forces and pushed them out.

This video, by Mel Preen of natochannel.tv tells of one town’s successful fight against the Taliban and the development of their local police force.
