British troops staying sharp in Kabul
British soldiers based at Camp Alamo in Kabul have found a new way to stay fit.
The men from the Embedded Training Team – who share the camp with members of the Afghan National Army – have been getting some extra self-defence training, using dummy knives to hone their reflexes.
“It’s very physical, and because of the temperature, it’s hard work,” said Warrant Officer Class 2 (WO2) Andy Nolan of the Light Dragoons. “Even when you get stabbed with a rubber knife, it still stings a bit!”
The classes are based on courses run by the French Foreign Legion.
