Hero soldier is named Children’s Champion

April 6, 2011

‘A British Army medic was last night named as a “Children’s Champion” in annual awards organised by the News of the World newspaper. The First Battalion the Royal Irish Regiment nominated Cpl Aran Rushe for saving the life of an eight-year-old Afghan girl. The soft- spoken Ulsterman insists he’s just “one of the boys”. But as a combat medical technician, his fellow Royal Irish infantrymen know they can depend on him if things go bad.’
