Royal Irish families prepare for homecoming

March 24, 2011

Operation Herrick 13 is coming to an end and the troops are coming home. But it seems there’s more to the homecoming than meets the eye for some as Fiona Weir of BFBS discovered when she went to a briefing in Belfast for the families of the Royal Irish Regiment.

So so happy that my boy is coming home very soon, my prayers will continue for all our brave troops that will be going out soon and in the near future. God bless them all! Thank you also for your wonderful blogs that have kept me going seeing all the good that is being done for the people in Afghanistan.

This sound really good. My son was in T.A’s and served in Iraq. We got no advice on symptoms of stress and how to watch out for it. As for returning to civvy life ? his boss, upon his return, refused to allow him his two week holiday entitlement saying he had a “good enough sun tan”. Neither the army or ACAS could help us with that one. It took him months to get over the “Ever ready” state . Glad things have moved on for the better.
