Copter crews ready for take-off in Afghanistan

February 22, 2011

Crews from the West Country-based Commando Helicopter Force (CHF) have just completed their training ahead of heading to the frontline in Afghanistan. The teams, from 845 and 846 Naval Air Squadron at RNAS Yeovilton, have just taken part in Exercise Pashtun Jaguar on Salisbury Plain.

Known as the Junglies, the squadrons, who fly Sea King helicopters, also took part in an exercise known as judgemental training. This sees military instructors act as insurgents setting ambushes and laying simulated landmines.

The CHF is deploying during West Country based 3 Commando Brigade’s six-month tour of duty.
