1 SCOTS improves relations with Afghan National Army

A Scottish regiment’s soldiers newly-arrived in Afghanistan are already hard at work building relationships with their Afghan National Army counterparts in Helmand province.

Delta Company of 1st Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland (1 SCOTS) is part of the Brigade Advisory Group whose job it is to mentor and advise the Afghan Army.

Captain Simon Hamilton is attached to 1 SCOTS from 1st Battalion The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment (1 LANCS) and has been travelling to checkpoints to meet with Afghan commanders.

    Not less hard than others, this duty require moral resilience, dedition to cause and to afghan’s forces and people. The formation of an Afghan force may not be limited to the initial phase, but require a long time training, a complementary interpllay, and intercultural exchange. that is the reason for i admire you, buddies. You will enconter diffiiculties, but they are physiological and will constitute a patrimony you will appreciate. thanks claudio alpaca

    LOVELY TO SEE OUR SCOTS BOYS SHOWING THE AFGHANS HOW TO GO ABOUT RUNNING THEIR OWN COUNTRY – THE QUICKER THAT COMES ABOUT THE QUICKER OUR BOYS AND GIRLS WILL BE HOME – OUR THOUGHTS WITH THE 1 SCOTS. FROM THE MO AND JO TEAM SOMERSET
